The Vancouver British Columbia Temple (HD) - Mormon Temples

The Vancouver British Columbia Temple was announced by the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 25, 2006. Ground was broken on August 4th, 2007.

The temple is the first in british Columbia, the seventh in Canada. The exterior is faced with Branco Siena granite from Brazil. The spire rises 140 feet and is crowned with a gilded statue of the angel Moroni, who is significant to members of the Church for his role in the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The interior features beautifully grained hardwood from the west coast of Africa. British Columbia's provincial flower, the Pacific dogwood, is used as the motif in the decorative painting and intricate carpet sculpting.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first arrived in British Columbia in 1875. Today the Vancouver temple will serve approximately 22,000 Church members from 91 congregations throughout British Columbia and upper Washington State.

@jlai32 Yeah! Bothers me too! You don't know how long I sat there waiting for the wind to make that flag snap in the wind (20 mins of holding the camera there). Every single time I left, the wind would pick up. I think Moroni was playing tricks on me...hah!

It will be just as beautiful as the Vancouver temple, as the same company will be constructing it. My husband is the project co-ordinator for both temples! It really is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship :)

I live in Calgary and we just had the groundbreaking for our temple which should be finished in a couple of years. I still can hardly believe it's actually happening. Beautiful video, thank you for sharing this. I lived in the lower mainland for a few years and will hopefully be back for a visit this summer to visit friends, and the new temple, of course!

Beautiful. Thank you so much for making this. I was a part of the open house and a TYC counsellor. This morning as I sat exhausted in the chapel and watched President Monson dedicate this beautiful building to the Lord I was overcome with gratitude in so many ways and the sleepless weekend after final exams seemed a little price to pay for such a blessing. You have captured this beautiful building perfectly.
