Clark Gable and Loretta Young fell in love while filming "Call of the Wild"

Loretta Young explains in her authorized biography that it was a one night occurence (but that's all you need)

Here is the story explained by Judy Lewis (the daughter)

In Loretta's defense, she could have had an abortion like most Hollywood actresses had during that time (Myrna Loy and Lana Turner have admitted to having them). It would have been a scandal in all the papers and she may have been fired had she went public with it and she may have ruined Clark Gable's career too. She probably could have done it a different way, but at least she didn't give her up for adoption. She decided to raise her own child and deal with the responsibility. Loretta should have told Judy about her father at a young age and just publicly deny it. Clark should have been a bigger part of her life, but what's done is done. I needed to state her case because many of the comments have been really negative towards her.

  • BTW Gable was married to the "love of his life" , Lombard, at the time of the affair.

I love the story about Young making people on her tv show pay up if they swore. She told Ethel Merman to pay up because she broke the rule while guesting on the show. Ethel reported said, "how much will it cost me to tell you to go f*@K yourself". I hate that kind of hypocrisy from "Catholic" Young... can't say f*@k but you can sure do it with a married man.

  • @whalleyPE Gable didn't marry Lombard until 1939. This affair happened in 1935.

  • I dont get, why her parents didn't raised her dogether, why Gable didnt know about his daughter ?

  • @marcjusz Gable knew about his daughter, but if they had to keep it a secret from the press and public because both their careers would have been ruined. Gable would have probably been let go from MGM and Loretta would have been released from Fox. Their entire reputation was on the line and if they lost their jobs, what would they do? it was the depression.

  • @Countrygirltori24 but Clark didn't raised her ?

  • @marcjusz No he did not. I don't know the if that was a mutual decision between Young and Gable or what.

  • She looks just like Clark. Too bad he never recognized her, at least I don't think so. She seems a nice woman.

  • @cutandpaste1 My parents raised me with movies like "The Quiet Man" and "Holiday Inn". I always enjoyed watching them, but it wasn't until 8th grade that it became a passion

  • R.I.P. JUDY LEWIS!!!!

  • @whalleyPE Mr. Gable was married to his second wife, Ria Franklin Prentiss Lucas Langham Gable when he filmed "Call of the Wild". The marriage was not a true love match, and he married Carole Lombard after he and Ria divorced.

  • @missisfreddiemercury Agreed....

  • @ASSBANG6969 you cannot just blame him. I blame her mother more!

  • she talks like him, she is his copy!

  • @whalleyPE nope, he was not married to Lombard at this time :)

  • RIP Judy Lewis.

  • @whalleyPE No need for name calling here. As you admit. This is a comment board. No need for name calling and hate speech. You do not know me, nor anything about who I am. So any further personal attacks of this nature not only display your ignorance, but will lead to possible TOS violations. Again, I have the right to post a comment. Sorry you have such a fragile ego. So let it go for your own sake, and let us enjoy this clip without any further senseless arguments, please.

  • @RayPointer what I take issue with is unsolicited 'advice' from delusional pseudo-christian crackers. spread your hypocrisy elsewhere.

  • @whalleyPE Then you should not be bothered by my comments. I see I am not alone in this point of view. If you were really sure of yourself, you wouldn't have to take issue with me, whether you choose to agree or not.
