Q. AMD HD4870 or NVIDIA GTX260, which is better and what are the advantages/disadvantages to each?

A. It really depends on the motherboard you have. If you have a motherboard with a a single video card PCIE slot, go with the AMD HD4870. Additionally, if you have a AMD CrossFire motherboard go with the HD4870 as well. However, if you have a NVIDIA SLI motherboard you might want to go with the GTX260 because you can upgrade to another video card(s) later.

@Computerlover1994 No one thumbed up, now you feel stupid. Intel's i7 is better than most because of its stability and over-clocking capabilities. Nvidia however is not better than ATI, as ATI has the better cards out right now as benchmarks show. You do sound like a fanboy, and I bid you good day.

lol @ Nvidia fanboys. ATI has great drivers. I have a 2.5 year old 4870 and its never been bugged by drivers. Its beens stable all this time.

depends on hardware on mobo even though i am a bit of a nvidia fanboy at moment i have ati and i feel ati better images but nvidia better oc. so nvidia 580gtx OVERCLOCK edition ftw!

@ms205 Yes it's faster, but it comes with the possible multi-GPU problems such as bad drivers, microstuttering and bad minium fps.

the 5970 is actually better than the nvidia cards.

i've looked at them and ati's have had better benchmarks and overall better performance.
