This video shows you how to get your menus transparent. The easiest way, is to do it in Ubuntu Tweak and from there edit the transparency in CCSM.

  • your doing transparent menu's the old way. you should look into compiling the "rgba" module. then not only can you have transparency on menus - the proper way with no faded-icons, but you can also have transparent windows, where the applications icons, text, etc are not tranparent, while the window background is. you probably also could have shown your audience how to do this WITHOUT ubuntu tweak - which is also very easy to do.
