What makes this scene so appealing:

-- it's a "breather" needed after Luke's conflict with his folks

-- a mark of Luke's maturation as he seriously yearns -- looks forward -- to leaving home

-- a sense of destiny, hope, perseverance; that more will happen to this character, we don't know when or how, but he will remain steadfast until that time

-- appeal to our own humanity; who hasn't watched a sunset?

-- it's beautifully scored

God, this scene never fails to send chills up my spine.

The music is so beautiful and the way Luke just stands there and stares at the suns is touching (for lack of a better word).

This scene sucks. Poor music and terrible imagery and one last thing, if you took what I said seriously, you are a moron because nobody could say that about this wonderful work of art.

agreed its one of the few things that hits u hard in star wars.

like idk why but everytime i watch empire strikes back i get chills when they have to run from the imperial walkers. cuz its like a cause for the greater good being crushed under evil
