This clip is one of my all-time favorite film scenes. It is from the movie "Little Murders," starring Elliott Gould. This particular scene stars Donald Sutherland, who presides over the ceremony as the minister/shaman.

As a little background to the scene.....Elliott Gould plays the shy/quiet/pacifist groom, while is his bride-to-be is an outspoken, feminist-type character. The pudgy man in the glasses is the father-of-the-bride; he is the one that has offered money to Donald Sutherland to mention God in the ceremony.

The rest pretty much stands on its own. I put this up here because I really like Donald Sutherland's speech; in some ways I wish I could just play it at my own wedding in the future. I'm not saying that I believe in everything Donald Sutherland says in the vows, but I think the gist of it is right on.

  • it's alright. it's all part of life.

  • Thank you for posting this, I agree with Chiparoo22 - this is a very underappreciated movie, of course, being taken off the market twice during the last presidential administration didn't help. My favorite scene too.

  • Thanks ! A movie that's not understood or appreciated enough !

  • Yes, this is a great scene. However, once you have seen it, there is no reason to search for the remainder. And that's alright, really it is. The makers have endeavored to deliver a degree of entertainment above the norm which, in itself, is admirable and that's alright. However the balance of the film fails to deliver a quality one should expect from those involved and that's not alright. In fact, the rest of this movie is an embarrassment to all those involved.

  • HAAAAA!!! That was ABSOLUTELY enjoyable and HILARIOUS!

  • "It's all right; it's perfectly all right!!"

  • Absolutely fabulous! Thank you ;-)

  • I laughed sooo hard in this scene! I loved the movie.

  • You're both right!
