Cyrille is one of the very finest drummers. I think his relative lack of popularity is because drummers now assume a lot of funk and fusion influences, feel at home with them. Andrew's musical heritage is a line from the great jazz drummers with his African influences filtered through his own very considerable dedication and creativity. He is clearly one of the most interesting drummers playing today. Wonderful music!

a lot of talk. none of it particularly exciting. recalls "Ken burns jazz." i certainly prefer footage to verbiage.

I like Cyrille, saw him twice: with ehrlich-dresser and workman-oliver lake.. not easy to find recordings of his great music
