This song by Blur is a fry cry different and slower than their big big hit Song 2. I guess I can consider this a love song, even Poison had a love song, Backstreet Boys had many. How did they come about calling this Blue Jeans, anyway you look at it, it's easy on the ears. I can't help but compare this band to The Backstreet Boys, Crowded House, Blink 182, The Bloodhound Gang, The Pet Shop Boys & David Bowie when I think of closet cases, believe-you-me! Damon wrote this song in the early days of his relationship with Justine; he had just moved in with her in Notting Hill. He said last year when Blur were rehearsing for the Hyde Park gigs that hearing Blue Jeans makes him think of being 23 and in love. In 2000, when this gig was filmed, maybe he did feel the sentiment to be naive, especially considering how the relationship ended.
