*sigh* classics

It's a pretty nice trick, but the business with the circle/square is even more impressive, and so beautifully, casually tossed off at the beginning. Great stuff.

The most obvious solution is a trapdoor, but I think there's another sneaky element here. The key is that odd 3/4 turn he does with the box, apparently for the "viewers at home"- unnecessary, as the cameras can go pretty much anywhere- but in fact to obscure the angle at which Debbie is standing. I think she steps out of the box, then moves in tandem with it (probably crouched) as it's rotated. The shots which show the back of the box are filmed after the fact, and shown only to the TV audience.

@AgentBacon117 No mirrors ... My guess is she's lying on top of the bars in the middle (with the square orange heads), between the triangle and the circle. He puts those middle bars in early so she can climb up. If you look closely, there is more room on the right side of the box than the left (see 0:40). Those metalic borders around the outside of the shape holes and inside the black frame of the cabinet help complete the optical illusion that there isn't enough space.

i love the prestidigitation of all magicians. it's really quite mind-boggling how they can perform the impossible.

I wish I knew
Shame the press slate Daniels so much; I've heard he's one of the most respected magicians around by fellow magicians. When you read about his early career and how he had to perform in really rough and tough clubs, well you have to give him respect where it's due. Clever guy.

I saw paul daniels at the olympia and it was one of the best shows I ever saw as a child. as a live act he is second to none. he is the undisputedly best close up magician britian ever produced. really old school variety. they dont make people like paul daniels anymore and I loved his show. an irish reviewer in an irish newspaper said likewise. mark
