acjoshy74 if Boris would have won Roland Garros in 89 he would have made the Gran Slam in the same year!: He won Wimbledon+USOpen + The Australian Open in 89...Such a shame he should have beatdn Edberg...But hey he's still a legend!

Boom Boo Becker my all time favorite player!I remember waking up early to watch this match...I miss his crazyness on the court:he was human! ;-)

@ppm120667 You shouldn't over look his 95 and 96 seasons, when he had refocused and played some of the very best tennis of his career.
His indoor matches with Sampras in 96 are some of the finest tennis every played, by both men.

@bull864, hehe, no, he completely left the stadium, running around in the park there, quite out of mind as he mentioned later, like throwing the heavy racket inside the audience like a weirdo. The officials had to search and collect him there. :D
However, it must be great to be the best of 7.000.000.000 people in your discipline... and yes, during my schooltime I never put the alarm 1 or 3am for Stich, Steeb or others, but for Becker! I cried some tears after his very last match...

It's a shame that Becker lost focus from 1992 as he was just beginning to find the angles and range on his strokes both forehand and backhand. Apart from his footwork which was faulty on occasion as you can see he defeated lendl on a slower hardcourt (than the US open) from the baseline. he played superbly on clay in 1991 and gave brugera and agassi more than a handful with brilliant baseline play. i feel that the loss in wimbledon 1991 destroyed him. real shame.
boom boom becker !!!
for me the greatest player of all time. his way of playing was so exciting and thrilling. it was as if you were standing on court right next to him.

boris becker reaching #1 in the world
he was the most explosive and greatest player, at his best, he was unbeatable like in this match
too bad he lost motivation and fire in the 90´s,; he was a so young champion that he felt somehow old in this 20´s, he matured too quickly
Forever missed in the game of tennis
