ADDISON, Texas - Heart-stopping video released Thursday shows a multivehicle crash involving a semi truck on the Dallas North Tollway.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning in the southbound lanes , near Beltline Road in Addison.

The footage shows what appears to be a small tan Nissan veering into the 18-wheeler, striking it near the passenger's side of the cab. The semi then veers into the median, flips over it and lands on its side in the southbound lanes.

The truck also tore down a metal utility pole as it hurdled over the concrete barrier.

Six vehicles were involved in the crash but no one was seriously injured.

The crash closed both lanes of the roadway for some time, backing up traffic for miles.

  • I've seen some people wondering (to put it nicely) why the car driver would swerve into the semi like that. Here is my best explanation:

If the left tie rod joint fails in a front wheel drive vehicle, the left wheel will pull to the right. then if you let off the gas the wheel will quickly pull to the left and get stuck as far left as it can go. That looks to be the case. There is a lesson here: if you suspect damage to those parts, or your alignment feels weird, then get it looked at.

  • that silver suv at 3 seconds is so lucky, and is a good driver

  • @cyrex686

you may be right. one thing is missing from your description - it is most ##cking amazing how no other car got hit, and it seems as if nobody got seriously wounded. do you have any information about that?

  • Wow idiot

  • Actually while it may be hard to believe, the car actually made the truck swerve. The driver of the truck probably never even saw the car. I doubt very seriously he was trying to swerve away from the car. I've seen cars hit the front wheel of a rig like that before and it can actually steer the truck off course. May seem hard to believe but if a 200lb. man can steer it why wouldn't the force of a 3000lb. car be able to?

  • Cause?

Don't swerve out of your lane like that.

Appears the semi driver made this far worse by trying to avoid or lessen the collison with the car.

Amazing that others were not hit and that no one was killed.
