"Over 65 hours, fire still blazing at Jaipur IOC site" :: Jaipur: Two more bodies were spotted at the burning IOC fuel depot in Jaipur on Sunday, pushing the toll to 10, even as the fire died out in six of the 11 storage tanks but spread to the roof of a nearby private building.

The unidentified charred bodies were sighted in the wee hours near one of the blazing tanks, but it was not possible to reach there because of the heat, Inspector General of Police BL Soni said.

The fire spread to the roof of the building which houses a private electronic and instrument company called Genus Overseas Ltd, 200 metres from the IOC complex wall, at about 0700 hours, chief fire officer Ishwar Lal Jat said. Firemen present there could extinguish the flames within two hours, he said........

Jaipur: It has been almost two days and the fire at Jaipur's Indian Oil depot is still blazing and officials say it could be a while before it is doused.

The fire has claimed at least 11 lives and injured over 150 so far. It broke out after about 50,000 kilo-litres of fuel, mostly diesel, caught fire due to a pipeline leak at one of the tanks.

Petroleum Minister Murli Deora visited the site on Friday. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of those killed, Rs 2 lakhs to the seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh to those with minor injuries. A probe has also been ordered into the incident......
