  • I am wondering the shots at the beginning of the video with the other dolphins, was Moko with them. I am curious to know if Moko interacted with other dolphins? To have footage of Moko with others would be incredible! Thanks Chantal

  • Hi,

No, Moko wasn't with the pod at the start.

They were a pod of common dolphins I flimed off Mahia the same year.

Moko was a bottlenose dolphin and much bigger than common dolphins.

I have never seen another bottlenose dolphin in the waters around Mahia.

I never saw Moko with another dolphin in the time he was at Mahia.

Whales, people, fish, boogie boards and other items yes but never with another dolphin.

  • Can I post your video on

    Happylolday dot com ?

I did a blog about Hero Moko and would love to do a follow-up with her videos :)

  • I've had seven dolphins do that t me in the Intracoastal, Florida. I even got bumped by one when I put my hand to the side of the boat!

  • I just love that dolphin-lad ... imaging what he would be like with a couple of beers too many!!! LOL

  • As they said it is amazing....

The video you are commenting on is more than two years old, the scars have healed. Moko is free to come and go as he chooses and has chosen to move away from this area. Let him do what he wants, its his ocean more than ours.

  • Yes how wonderful was it?? I noticed that Moko has cuts on his back from boats!! Is it really fun for him to get close to us to play and get hurt with the blades of boats?? I don't think so!!!! :(

  • Thanks for posting this. We swam with Moko 2 weeks ago in Gisborne. He is so gentle. It was an amazing experience.

  • ok derr...ignore that last comment - i posted it when i was only 0.35 into the video lol

  • there's two of them - who's the other dolphin?

  • Un video precioso, felicidades!! Tienes mucha suerte de poder vivir una experiencia así, te envidio ;)
