People & Power - Malaysia's Internal Security Act - 9 Sep 08

Malaysia's Internal Security Act or ISA has its roots in the 1950s, when the country, then under British colonial rule, was fighting a Communist insurgency.

Almost six decades on and the Communist threat has gone but the law remains.

Opponents say many of the act's original checks and balances have been eroded over the years and the ISA is now being used to stifle political dissent.

But the government says the law is a necessary tool in the pursuit of social stability.

Aloke Devichand reports on those fighting to have the ISA abolished once and for all.

This is the problems with the Malaysian,regardless of race.

They still driving above the speed limit,they still don't know how to use a dustbin,they still don't have proper manners while driving on the road,they still waste a lot of water.

They need to change their mentality and attitude first before they change government through elections.

We need to recall back one of the reason why the May 13 incident occurs.The opposition!

Malaysia is a democracy country, if you dont believe, then UMNO will invite you join ISA seminar to give you brief intro about what is sensitive issue in malaysia. IF you still not believe after the course, then UMNO will kill you using C4 to prove it

any action thats against the law is a threat. similarly many banting lawyers say good things about the banting lawyer murderer.but many lives disappear before the smiling eyes of this lawyer. as for hisammuddin rais, he knows why he was arrested under isa but he is now using it to seek popularity. thruth hurts but we need isa to manage these dangerous elements in our sociaty.

This is amusing. When Malaysia uses ISA against those notorious individuals they put negative label on Malaysia, When the American twin tower were brought down by some extremist, they blanketly labeled Muslims are terrorists. If the whole world preach ISA as good as in Malaysia, all these act of destroying mankind could have been contained and avoided. Am glad that Malaysia has ISA to protect its citizen against notorious individuals, irrespective.
