I am doing my 2nd guest room like this! I LOVE this floor! I did not stain my floor, but the first room I did in a light brown paper, and the next room I have done in a dark brown paper! The second room belongs to my daughter, and for fun I have torn out several paper hearts and randomly pasted to the floor! I told her that I did it, but it will be up to her to discover where they are! I used a satin polyurethane, but this glossy look is awesome!
Thanks for the videos, I needed the ideas!

Can you tell me what caused the damaged spots? Was it water damage or marks from something hard hitting the floor?? I am really considering doing this finish in a number of rooms in my house.
I pulled the laminate up in this room before we did this treatment. I'd be worried about the vinyl seams perhaps lifting at some point, otherwise, it should work I would think.

But you figure, with almost 4 months of use, these tiny 7 spots were nothing, and took less than 10 minutes to "repair" total time. We're still planning on doing this technique throught the house actually. Next room is our son's room upstairs, but his might be without the stain since the paper looks more like sand and we're doing a pirate/ship theme in there.

I'm not sure what caused the damaged spots. Most were almost a perfect circle shape with the exception of a 1/2" line for one of 'em. Honestly, this room gets so much traffic, it could have been anything. The odd thing was that at least two of the seven mini-repairs were under the edge of the counter overhang, so who knows? We have dog, cat and kids in and out of there all day long, so your guess is as good as mine. :)
