This music segment was one of 17 "Dance of the Week" and "Brand New Song" segments originally shown on "The Archie Show" on CBS-TV on Saturday mornings in 1968, and repeated on the original hour-long format of "Archie's Funhouse" in 1970. The song, "Ride, Ride, Ride" was included on The Archies' first LP, also released in 1968.

This version of the music segment has the CORRECT SPEED & PITCH. The current DVD releases of Filmation's Archie show material have an inaccurate 4% increase in speed & pitch due to the conversion from NTSC to PAL format, and vice-versa. The correct version I have uploaded is from an alternate source of years ago.

"The Archie Show" is currently owned by USA based Classic Media (formerly Entertainment Rights from the UK), which purchased the Filmation library from it's previous owner, Hallmark. "The Archie Show" and the 30-minute format of "Archie's Funhouse" (with some funhouse & side-show segments from "The Archie Comedy Hour" added as bonus material) are currently available in complete DVD boxsets from Genius Products.

"Archie" is owned and copyrighted by Archie Comic Publications.

  • Good song and dance intro.....thank you, Windsorbear. It seems that the dance segment mimics the action of a 3/4 "H" manual transmission shifter. Ha, ha...little did I know back then that by watching these Archie shows, I would have learned how to drive a manual stick. The "Ride, Ride, Ride" song was a catchy throwback to the Beach Boys. The animation seemed to feature Betty in good synchronization with "her" tambourine beat.

  • @wainoco318 In the earlier episodes of "The Archie Show", an additional tambourine sound effect was thrown in with the songs whenever Betty was shown playing the tambourine (which sometimes conflicted with the real tambourine in the songs). Then it was just added whenever Betty was shown in a solo shot (as in this song), and then finally, they abandoned the additional tambourine effect altogether. It was an interesting touch of realism though; gotta hand it to Filmation for that extra effort.

  • Now, how you supposed to "watch and learn" a dance that involves hopping backwards and up, to grab a giant floating "3" -- and then hop around on top of a giant ball on a pole??

  • You just need a few supplies from Lowe's to build the props for it.

  • The Stick Shift song should've been made into a full song. It's that catchy!

  • Several of the "Dance of the Week" songs would have made great songs on their own. They were written by the same great talents that wrote the regular Archies songs, and performed by the same singers and musicians. There was a LOT of great talent in the background on this show.
