Every year Kims uncle Norm rallies his entire family together to run the Dipsea. This year both Jeff & John were honored by an invitation to participate. For those who are not familiar, The Dipsea is a 7.5 mile running race from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach over Mount Tamalpais in Marin County. Next to the Boston Marathon, it is the oldest foot race in America and this year marked its 99th year. You might remember hearing about it because our cousin Michael Restani participated for many years as the guide for the blind runner Harry Cordellos.

Each year about 1500 brave souls take on this grueling cross country trek over the mountain, through the Redwoods and into the ravines of Muir Woods that climbs and falls more than 2200 vertical feet and includes 672 stairs to trudge up right in the beginning of the race. Because the race is so rugged, instead of mile markers, there are many ominous sounding (and rightly so) check points along the way. Suicide - a downhill section that is just a few degrees shy of a cliff, Dynamite - the long persistent steep incline towards the top, Cardiac Hill - the last slap in the face before you reach the top, The Swoop - another steep downhill that comes along when your legs are already like rubber, Steep Ravine - the dangerous, uneven stairs to the bottom of Webb Creek canyon and Insult Hill - the final uphill section before the finish.

This year the Norman Pease family contingent along with John & Jeff were Jordan Pease & Genna Berlin, Will Pease, Andrew Pease, Nick Kosla, & Jennifer Pearsall. Norms daughter, Larissa, got a bye this year because she is 5 months pregnant so she joined the cheering section with Kim, Janet Pease, little Audrey Kosla, Joan Pease & Dick Engebrecht.

The music for this video is Travelin Light by Widespread Panic & opens with Grux by the Dave Matthews Band.
