'LAKELAND' Part 1 : BORROWDALE

A short ad. for the first in a planned series showcasing some of the most beautiful areas of the English Lake District. Including the valley of the river Derwent, Derwentwater and the surrounding hills of Borrowdale, the full episode gives an over-view of the people, industry and history of the area and features those places that have given inspiration to generations of writers, artists and film makers.
One of Borrowdale's most evocative literary appearances is in the Herries Chronicles, written by Sir Hugh Walpole, and we were able to obtain permission from Duff Hart Davis and Francis Lincoln Ltd. Publishers to use quotes from the first in the series, Rogue Herries, whose story is set amongst the hills and crags of this glorious landscape.
The final programme is superbly complemented by an original score, by Mike Harvey, that captures the soaring beauty of the area.
