You have reason, but in this stile, the students don´t have a real belt.
This belt is used only in the competition, is used white and red or in japanese shiro and aka. im sorry for my english

So what's the point? Independant to the contest, (same old) Why is the kid wearing a white belt... he's obviously not?!
This contest is pointless and aimless for two reasons: 1) the losing student is humiliated, especially for loosing to a white belt. 2) the winning student gets an award that is meaningless, because he earned it through falsely presenting himself. The lesson learned is..?
