Today we are going to discuss the use of bio pellets sometimes referred to as solid vodka dosing as well as touch on the general theory behind other forms of organic carbon dosing like vodka . Not all brands of bio pellet are the same, many are made from corn or other biodegradable substances and work to various degrees Each BRS Biopellet is made from 100% pure PHA Polyhydroxyalkanoates produced by bacteria as a food source for bacteria. We believe this to be the most natural and effective substance available for use in the aquarium for denitrification. Bio pellets are typically used in reactors.

  • hey there, is it possible that you're in interzoo 2010 video? around 2:06

  • @fhangorn lol Looks like Brandon and I are in that video a few times (Red Sea at Interzoo 2010 ). We spent a good amount of time talking to them about their new test kits. Looked like they are taking the test kit industry more seriously.

  • Great video Brandon

Hi njoyrid, Brandon wanted me to make sure I corrected your comment. My name is Ryan and I am the one in the videos. Brandon said “I am young and in my prime, I don’t want people thinking I am some old Native American dude! ”

  • I really like the concept of Nitrate/Phos removal in one source. I am currently using GFO in a reacter and Seachems De-nitrate In a media bags. It is a 1300g fish only system with 2 GSM skimmers. I would like to get away from using the De-Nitrate and just curious your opinion on removing the gfo and just using biopellets only. Thank You

  • Will bio pellets strip phosphate from the water? Or should GFO be continued along side bio pellets in a seperate reactor?

  • oh sorry hahaha
