@davisgreen2020 They have to stop launches before the replacement is available. NASA's budget does not support one active system and one in development. The majority of NASA's budget is used for the Shuttle system. Same thing in the mid 70's when we had no capabilities to launch men into space. Budget after Apollo was used to develop the Shuttle system.

It is insane the stop the launches in 2011 of the SpaceShuttle UNTIL there is a replacement rocket. NASA needs the ARES V HLV to finally go beyond LEO !! On to Mars and return to the Moon !!
