Kitty Von-Sometime and Lilja Hrönn interviewed by news programme Ísland Í Dag on 23.07.08

Icelandic section translation:
Introduction - Oddur: Hello Iceland today welcomes you on this fine Wednesday.
Today we are talking to the performance art group The Weird Girls or Skrýtnu Stelpurnar which the multi-media artist and super producer Kitty Von-Sometime leads.
Let us take a closer look at this interesting art-group.

First interview question to Lilja.
Why is it so much fun to participate in this?
Lilja: Just to do something different, getting girls and women out of their normal environment and do what they would never think of doing but actually want to do. Ideas that people say "oh wouldn't it be fun to do this" but never become a reality. But you show up and do it. One funny thing was that, as we know, the group is called The Weird Girls and after the first episode I showed it to my little sister who was four at the time. She saw the video and said that we were weird and that is exactly what we are going for, that people think we are a bit different but want to participate, that they also want to do this.

Lilja: You cannot really see any end to this because we always manage to take it one step further and Kitty always manages to come up with ideas that challenge and astonish us at the end of the day. So for me there is no end to this unless the expense will eventually get so high that we will not be able to do it anymore but then we will just do something else instead.

  • Hi Icychill420

Its the girls which don't know what is going to happen, I do, I plan everything in advance for about 2-3 months, but the rest of the girls don't know where they are going, what they will wear or be expected to do when filmed/photographed.

I organise everything with the crew in advance. It is only the girls who don't know. Except very occasionally 1 or 2 of the girls work on part of the costumes but still dont know the rest of what is happening.

    Hope that answers for you.

    Kitty
