  • hey FuseG4, just got one from e-bay seller but upon opening it from shipping there is a 1" surface hairline fracture on the body close to the neck. Seller said it must have happened during shipping. Think, it is anything to worry about? Maybe just some acrylic paint or model paint?

Also, since it is stock the maple fretboard/neck finish is pretty thin. You said you put an extra layer of PU lacquer on yours. Did you break down the neck and spray or just coat it with a sponge brush?

  • @camlpg

A crack on the body is probably not a big deal. I'd keep an eye on it though, in case it gets bigger. But since the squier's finish is polyurethane, I'm not sure acrylics will take care of the crack.

When I refinished my neck, I completely refinished it. I sanded it to bare wood and then sprayed it with nitrocellulose laquer from a can. It was a bunch of work, but it came out with a much better feel. check out reranch.com for the process, I basically just followed their directions.

  • hey man.... that´s my strat too. I love it. Beautiful instrument. great sound and look. It´s by far the best squier product... this oe and the tele custom II with P90´s... Thats an amaing tele. I would choose it over a fender std anyday. really. Search it. Squier tele custom II (with p90´s) The black one. The prize is ridiculous and it´s truly... amazing.

I had a squier tele custom with 2 humbuckers. The "custom 1" or whatever you wanna call it. It was actually the worst guitar I've ever owned! Terrible neck pocket.

Squiers have good and bad specimens, that's for sure.

  • hey man, how did you do the nitrocellulose finish on the neck yourself.. i wanna do it on one of my guitars too.. some tips would really help.. thanks..!

  • 720 we meet again but did you gain weight your not looking so good.

  • @furbyunicejafisher You must have got a bad one. You should just take it back to the shop you bought it from. My 2 point trem is the best I've had in over 25 years.

  • @365Avalon i hate it, bridge went up once when i busted high E string, repair costed me 50 euros cos the adjustment n because i unscrewed evry single saddle :P

Evry time i take it to the tech, he tells me that the neck curvature is reversed or somthin, cos the wood has to get used to the climate here.

Well i just saw a fake strat copy, those that cost like 70 euros, n it had a classic 6 point bridge, n it actually looked much more solid than this one.

  • @furbyunicejafisher

It took me a while to get my 2 point trem setup floating how I like it. I added a 3rd spiring, roller string trees & a new nut to improve tuning stability. It's actually very good now. There's no real reason why the 2 point should be any less usable than a 6 point one, it's mainly just a case of eliminating points of friction on the whole string path. Check out some tutorials on here.
