Rep. Rob Andrews spoke on the House floor this afternoon in support of H.R. 4213, the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act, which passed the House this afternoon.
Rep. Andrews addresses false claims made by some Republicans during the debate of the bill about economic policies. While Rep. Sessions (R-TX) claims new jobs have all been "government jobs", in fact his home state of Texas gained 32,500 jobs in April, and only 1,700 of those were government jobs (see BLS: http://www.bls.gov/news.release/laus.nr0.htm).
@Causa10bserver: Sorry, I don't share your view of the wealthy as sacred cows. These selfish people created the economic situation we're in now. I'm not jealous of the wealthy, I simply think it's time for them to contribute their fair share. They got to where they are by taking advantage of their workers, not giving them union pay and benefits, and overcharging customers with fees they didn't expect.

@judyleasugar97 Lol, "wealthy fat cats". This isn't 19th century England. Most rich folk earn their money by producing goods and services that people want. It's also rich folk that pay the wages and benefits of us middle class types. Jealousy is an ugly thing. If you want what the "fat cats" have feel free to put in the long hours or chance failing or hitting it big by starting a business. At the very least have the guts to steal it for yourself. Don't use the government to steal it for you.

@Causa10bserver: As a matter of fact Obama is working to reduce the debt, unlike Bush who passed every pork bill his Republican congress put in front of him. It's really a matter of where the money is being spent -- on the middle class instead the wealthy fat cats, thank God.

@judyleasugar97 Actually, the Republicans and anyone with at least two brain cells to rub together are concerned that in their first 14 months this congress and president increased the national debt by more than Reagan did in 8 years and at the rate they are spending will increase it by more than 12 years of the two Bushes combined before the end of this calender year.

The Republicans are unhappy money isn't being funneled into corporate pockets as neatly as before, money is actually being spent on the American people!
