With 32 MPG highway, the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox beats competitors, such as the 2010 Honda CR-V, the 2010 Toyota RAV4 and even the 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid, in fuel economy.
Go even farther in your Equinox with the ECO button, which allows you to switch to a fuel-saving mode and get a maximum of 600 highway miles on one tank.

This recovers SOME of the kinetic energy put into your vehicle. If you are a big hypermiler, this mode does NOTHING for you, because you shouldn't be needing to slow down that much and should be coasting in neutral as much as possible. It also does littl for you on the highway, unless you need to come to a stop really quickly there pretty often.

ummm... what does it do? it extends your range by "changing calibrations". wow, really went into detail there, eh buddy??? Yeah, the "eco" button really only changes one thing, engine braking. With it on, the engine "brakes" for you more than a normal car. When it does this, it shuts off fuel to the engine and locks up the transmissions torque converter to keep the engine turning over.
