I think you made an excellent point about history. U.S. history, world history, ancient history are all very interesting and I love to read books on those subjects in my free time, but taking a multiple choice quiz that a kid is going to forget 5 minutes later when he goes home to whack off is not going to give him or her job skills in terms of creating reports in an office, fixing a computer or a car, performing surgery, etc....
