George Allen's Knight Templar played by Black Dyke at the Whit Friday Quickstep Contest held at Delph in Saddleworth on June 1st 2007. Sorry about the clipped opening - this was the winning performance at Delph.

  • Where's the percussion?

  • This is from the Whit Friday contest in Saddleworth. Percussion isn't allowed.

  • Woaouhhhh !

Les Brass band anglais ont les meilleurs cornettistes de la planète.

J'adore toutes ces musiques que j'écoutais sur la BBC le samedi afternoon depuis St-Malo !

Sorry my english is not good because my teachers were too crazy lol

    I'm 62 old.

  • Those Basses are working hard - super sound!

  • I've been listening around the posts for this piece all morning and can categorically declare that Black Dyke play this piece with an unrivalled passion bordering on fanaticism ! Listen to Grimethorpe in 1998 with their amazing solo cornet. Brighouse and Rastrick in 2011, or Black Dyke in the rain 2009. On my dessert island this would get me out of bed in the morning ! Thanks from an expat who misses this culture so much. These amazing sounds bring tears of joy !

  • I've been listening to brass band postings all morning of this piece. I can categorically state that Black Dyke play this piece with an unrivalled passion bordering on fanataicism ! Although some bands provide more lyricism, at the end of the day on a dessert island, this would be the only performance that would get me out of bed in the morning ! Listen to Grimethorpe 1998 and Brighouse and Rastrick 2011. Black Dyke in the rain 2009 ! Thanks from an expat who misses this culture so much.

  • i liked that part from 0:00 to 4:34

  • @Oakeley Yes, but look at the band's achievements over the last century. 22 National Championships (4 in last decade), 29 Open Championships (2 in last decade) shows a consistency over a long time. Unparalleled

  • @MyFkinName It was a dog

  • @Cala6491 how rude!!!!!!!!

  • I cannot think of a better brass band than these guys. Simply superb!
