Here is a small project I am working on with President of RISEA ( Rhode Island Solar Energy Association ) we will hit 300˚+ on sunny day... Today is cloudy and we are experimenting with a parabolic inside an insulated solar box... today cooking mac and cheese tomorrow rotisserie Chicken!

  • I actually hit 276˚ within about 5 minutes! it was climbing very quickly... but the clouds were persistent...

  • Good to try on a cloudy day - but the video shows strong shadows, suggesting the sky was not that cloudy at the time it was taken. I'd like to see what the practicalities are for really cloudy day cooking - how large and area must be focussed by a parabolic collector to cook a chicken or loaf of bread etc. Any ideas? I have two large fresnel lenses from TVs that might help focus the beam. Regards, Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.
