Over a beautiful local foods dinner at Sunburst Trout Farm, Western North Carolina farmers share lessons learned from their projects to diversify their farms. They received grants from WNC Agricultural Options, a program to build sustainable farming communities by providing resources directly to farmers diversifying or expanding their operations. Grant recipients include: an edible landscaper, cucumber farmer, poultry grower, dairy owner, beekeeper, trout farm chef, and more. WNC AgOptions is supported by N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission in partnership with N.C. Cooperative Extension and RAFI-USA. Mult-media story courtesy of Alix Blair. See http://www.wncagoptions.org for more information about farm grants and see http://www.rafiusa.org/savethencttfc.html to learn how you can ensure funding for the grants continue.
