Rachel is correct about that part of American history. The vets were thwarted by their own government, they were treated as trash... and the same history was repeated afterwards. Once you have done your duty (to whom exactly?) and you come home, you will be ignored by the larger populace, because they cannot understand your injuries (emotionally, or otherwise), unless some of them have walked in those shoes. Most people are ignorant of suffering until it involves their own friends + family

And I don't even see what you are fearing in Socialism, anyway, since that is not Stalinism or Communism. You just don't understand the difference.
