tigers almost always beat lions, always if they are the same size. The thing is, it doesn't make them exactly stronger, it's because they know how to fight with avoiding injuries, while lions rush in wholeheartedly and get fucked up (hence "heart of a lion") ,because they are used to that kind of fighting with other male lions. If a lion gets hurt, his pride can hunt for him until he gets better, while tigers are loners, and if they get hurt, they can't hunt, so they starve to death.

@nasermeter its all good. I don't either. I just get irritated when one side won't understand why the other side just might win. And it is an unfair fight. Tigers are hunters, fight rarely and lions are warriors. Fight all the time. But yes both animals are wonderful.

@nasermeter i did find the source but not from wiki and it was by Sunquist just as I suspected. Yes the tigers won, thanks for that but the fact tigers winning in the roman times has been argued many times and their are sources backing both the lions and tigers. and just for those who think the heavier and bigger you are is a common factor as to which animal will win here "Tigers and Lions are about the same size, so that shouldnt make a difference". Sunquist. Hopefully thats all cleared up.

There are actually a good amount of sites about tigers beating lions and lions beating tigers. So what does that prove? All tigers won't beat all lions. That's a fanboy talking and yes lions don't give a fuck if they get hit by a tiger but thats not why they would lose. If a lion was threatened it wouldn't back down. The lion was obviously not threatened.
