CW reception on TS-2000x VS. IC-7600 VS. Elecraft KX-1 QRP rig. Interesting that all the super digital technology in the big rigs - doesn't really help when you are receiving simple old CW. Two chips and an audio amp result in some really good signal to noise on the KX-1... it's just easy on the ears.

  • I know, this is not rigorous. The little external MP3 speaker on the KX-1

is pretty narrow.. good for CW. I can tell you that all the extra circuitry in the

"big rigs" generate noise of their own and the simple 2-chip KX-1 circuit gives

amazing results if it has a little RF to work with. It's sold.. I'm awaiting the KX-3!

  • Please compare TS-2000 vs IC-7600 in SSB low bands in case of QRM+low signal to check reception with all filters on in both radios. For me is always very important that this comparison uses the same speaker. 73s and thanks for your video.

  • @py2sm -There is no comparison between the IC-7600 and the TS-2000.

The 2000 is a poor HF receiver. It's a one-stop-shopping approach. A good challenge would be the IC-7000 VS. the IC-756 Pro III ..or even better, the new Elecraft KX-3 VS. the Flexradio 3000.

  • Ahem- you have the K1 rig covering the speaker on the Kenwood.... "/

  • Nice video. As a K3 owner, no one has to sell me on the quality of Elecraft products. My only suggestion is to pipe the audio into the same speaker for all 3 rigs and repeat the test. I doubt the KX1 will disappoint, but it may make the other two rigs "pop" a bit-considering that internal speakers are usually low-watt and tuned for speech rather than CW. Tx for posting.

  • I'll take the ic-7600 off you hands since it's clearly a sub-par radio. :)
