La Gattara del Colosseo

Rome, summer of 2004.
We were done visiting the Colisseum and while queing to exit , in the crowd, I spotted this peculiar cart dragged by this woman.
We decided to follow the cart on which there was a sign saying something about saving the cats of the Colisseum.
We were intrigued.
When we were out on the sidewalk across from the world famous arena, folowing the cart, we saw a cat coming out of the ruins. Then another one, a skinny one. The three more, and soon enough there at least 50 cats on the other side of the fence where the woman had stopped the cart.

The woman was saying things like "come kittie kittie, come to mommie, who loves you so much, here some turkey and here some chicken, only mommie loves so much, kittie kittie...."
I reached for my camera. Determined to capture the scene I switched on movie mode.
I started recording, and I could hear her mumbling all these crazy loving things, then she akwoledged me and said something like "no" "non fate foto, me li spaventate", but I continued my job, ignoring her, and pretending not to understanding italian.

At that point she reached into the cart and produced the sign you see in the photo, while yelling "NO PHOTO NO PHOTO".

Then she hit my camera with the sign, and we had a verbal confrontation, but by then I did turn my camera off.

ste gattare dovrebbero finire in galera, nella mia città c'è ne una che nutre gatti di interi quartieri, sporcando direttamente e indirettamente, a causa dei gatti, che poi si riproducono tra di loro, e nascono i figli malati, ciechi, malformati, e con la rogna, cacano e pisciano dove capita, rovinando le aiuole, si affilano le unghie sul sellino della mia moto, e portano un sacco di parassiti, è uno schifo. poi sono tutte isteriche.

She was talking to her cats and she was feedind them with a spoon, all of a sudden she threw a spoon at me and i got cat food all over my arm. she was screaming like crazy. i left and someone came up to me and said that there's a video on youtube.
