Westcliffe, Colorado Stampede and Rodeo-A Video Postcard

Big rodeos like Cheyenne Frontier Days get a lot of attention. But the heart and soul of rodeo happens every summer in towns like Westcliffe, CO. This year's Westcliffe Stampede and Rodeo celebrated its 60th anniversary in fine style.

I know there are a few folks here that post "abuse" videos.

Rodeo celebrates our western heritage people. Yep, life was tough on livestock and the people that raised them.

Believe me, far more humans are hurt than animals at rodeos. Get over it.

I'm a fellow rodeo fan and competitor (calf roper and steer wrestler). There are too many "abuse" video's on this site and not enough clips that portray the good in rodeo. Thanks for doing that for us, kudos

I LOVE the Westcliffe Stampede! We went last year and had a blast! My only complaint about this video is that they didn't show the mutton busting. We're going tomorrow and I can't wait!

The humans that get hurt choose to do so. They get in there, they ride around like an idiot, they fall off. The animals that get hurt have absolutely ZERO CHOICE in the matter. That is what is known as "abuse." Don't try to tell me otherwise.

A rodeo is simply a gathering of people who wish to live forever in the past. "Life was tough on livestock"... what does that have *anything* to do with rodeo? Life was tough, so we tied some bull's balls together and hopped on its back? If times were so tough, why the hell were they wasting time playing with their livestock? You make it sound like rodeo celebrates a time of boredom and disregard to the welfare of their animals.

Unlike the humans, the animals have no choice but to be subjected to overwhelming cruelty for the entertainment of bored rednecks. You have an electric prod zap your testicles and let's see what you have to say. The time for the rodeo has passed. Show some compassion and get a life. Animals were not created for your amusement.

i live in co and i just got back from the frontier days yesterday

and ta tell u the truth it wasn't darn half near as good as westcliffe or any of ours like in greeley and la veta.

and ya to the people who think its cruelty to animals, if u don't like it , DON'T GO!!!
