Uri Gil is a Guinness World Record holder. At 61, he's the oldest active fighter pilot and he's waged battle in the skies for decades as he's pressed home Israel's military agenda. A passionate painter as well as a soldier, Uri talks with surprising candour about his values and life in the Air Force. We gain a unique insight into what makes a soldier tick: how does one deal with a lifetime of killing?

  • @TheResistanceofman U.S. "owns" non, they have not fought against countries with an air force that is worth to be called Air Force so there is nothing to compare with cince the 2nd World War.

When they met the Russian pilots during the Korean War, no one "owned"

Should we take example of the Air Force that has a proven skill, it's just Israel that fought against a relatively equal air forces.

Although Pakistan did weary well during Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.

  • You really got to wonder what the Skunk works is up to these days? They have regularly suprised us. I think that the days of manned aircraft is closing. We are entering the age of the robot (drone). As sensors and feedback systems get better the controll experience will be closer to being there, except no G fources. Small robot kamakazis in swarms of 100's. Crazy ass flight paths. How would you defend? And, even if you did we can always make more kill bots.

  • @dakiler2028 exactly! Chinese lack innovation and don't even have an engine for their new so called stealth jet...if they can't copy they are fucked.

  • @MrCastodian What country has as many advanced aircraft, AWACS, radar systems, and AWACS planes as it does? Sure, countries like Russia and China have advanced aircraft, to an extent, but their numbers are significantly smaller.

And their training is still in question. No other country has as many aggressor squadrons, large scale training such as Red Flag, or owns foreign aircraft (Su-27, MiG-29) to conduct realistic training?

  • @ahomepcrepair F-15 has just flown against inferior plane and air forces, does not show as much as you think.

Of course, no air force today can compare with the U.S., but your plan is not superior.

it's your size and your organization that is superior.

If US attacking a country with advanced aircraft, AWACS, an advanced radar systems and ECM, and a strong air defense, it's not so superior anymore.

  • @ahomepcrepair Is not true that they have met advanced resistance, at most, in Vietnam and the Korean War, but they last 40 years, they have not flown against any of class, no pilots, aircraft or organization of class.

Red Flag is an exercise and can not be used as a reference when drills rules set the parameters for who should win.

  • @morbitron6 But please show me links that I am wrong, sources, facts about how right you are.

And please, please come by independent reputable sources, not a source from a friend's cousin who has a neighbor who is a pilot, or from some obscure patriotic web site sponsored by the Tea Party movement or FOX media.

Clean concrete facts, in other words.

  • @morbitron6 "That's just the way it is."

Perhaps it is a phrase that works in school, but in real life that rhetoric does not work.

Facts in Korea is not really as you say.

Facts in Vietnam is quite disappointing if you are American.

You have the past 15 years had the largest air force, not before!

You are not best equipped, that place you share with Russia, the difference is that you have more of the best planes, not better, majority are quite old planes, just like all the others.

  • @morbitron6

From the standpoint of having 2 military brothers, I would love to agree with you on this.

However from the words of the mouth of my own brother, who is a F-18 pilot, that is just not true anymore. We may indeed have the best trained pilots in the world, but china has over 30,000 5th generation fighter craft in operation. These are on par with the JSF (F-35) and are 3 to 2 capable of engaging the F-22. No matter how bad their pilots may be, they swarm any Airforce they can reach.

  • @morbitron6 Don't forget about the small but fierce Dutch and Belgian airforces that came to help in these latest wars ...they also are trained very well and are well-equiped . That said, The US does have the best organised Marines out there , let alone the aircraft-carriers they have ...

  • @MrCastodian Sorry dude, but look at the Americans KDR in Korea- They owned Korean, Chinese and Russian pilots out there. Not to mention the simple act that there is no American equal in terms of Air forces. Since WWII, The United states has always had the Largest and best equipped AF on the planet. That's just the way it is.
