The organ is Dobson Opus 75 at Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. This is the fugue part of Maurice Durufle- Prelude et Fugue sur le nom d'Alain; opus 7
Simply beautiful! We were in L.A. just last week and stopped into this Cathedral, and we've been wanting to hear the organ ever since! Bravo to you, "Pianorgano!" I have the same recording of Marie-Madeleine Durufle-Chevalier. I agree; she would approve!
I have a recording of this piece played by Marie-Madeleine Durufle-Chevalier at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (with her husband Maurice) and I think they both would overwhemingly approve of your perfomance! Keep playing and posting! If you would like to play in the Shrine's Summer Organ Recital Series, contact Dr. Peter Latona via the Shrine's music department.
An awesome piece...one of the best. The final pages are scary as hell and you look so chilled. The performance was great. I agree to some extent that it may have lacked a little emotion...typical teenager I guess!! You deserve the best. Try and get some tuition in Paris, France.
A very intelligent performance, unquestionably within the performer's technical grasp -- remarkable in itself! I can't wait, however, to hear the piece again after the performer has worked on it with someone who's able to develop emotional impact. The piece could soar, but it doesn't quite get there. ds1868 has the right idea.
Yes but he's just playing the notes. There's no emotion here. Everything is right, except the ability to get 'inside' the music and bring the emotion alive. This is a very evocative piece, but I don't hear much evocation here.
That was very impressive! Durufle's op 7 is one of my favorite pieces and I really enjoyed your performance.
Also, comparing this with some of your earlier videos (which were also all very good) you have come a long way in both technique and maturity of interpretation.
Looking forward to seeing more form you in the future,

Great performance of what is probably my favorite organ piece. Those Next pistons sure come in handy don't they? :-)
