Yeah, I went to the NYC event a few nights ago and they actually tell you to cheer and stuff whenever you hear something you like. In general it doesn't get in the way too much, and they quiet down pretty quickly.
I guess they like it to be something like an orchestral performance with some of the energy of a rock concert, and by the end of the show I was really excited and happy XD

They actually tell you to cheer when you like stuff they ASK you to be loud. It's different from other orchestra concerts.
