Excellent version of this beautiful song. I've always admired Lanza as one of the few singers who could sound operatic when he needed too and NOT sound operatic in music like this.

This picture looks around the time of the filming of 'Because You're Mine'(1952) as I've seen other photos from this period when he was losing weight towards the end of filming... Also note 'NBC' on the microphone - this is obviously Lanza recording for the Coca-Cola show...

The second photo looks like him and Betty in Oregon during his weight loss program for the same film!

The greatest voice of all time absolutely no argument about it. There have been may great tenors before and after the great man but Mario was the maestro. No one in the same league as him.

I think we should agree that Mario Lanza was at least the best tenor for singing the so called American songs.This does not diminish the fact that tenors like Tucker Melton Crooks and Peerce also did wonderful recordings of some of the same songs as Lanza sang.However I think that the American songs were a specialty for ML as appose to Peerce or Tucker whom were really excellent operatic tenors.(Thine Alone)is a song that all 3 of these tenors do beautifully&I truly enjoy all of them.

This was my favourite carol of all time especially sung by our Mario and although I still adore this carol I now enjoy O Holy night more. Mario Lanza had the greatest voice of all time. There was nothing before or since to compare with him nor ever will be.I have listened to literally hundreds of tenors over many many years but noyhing even comes near. Of the modern bunch I must confess to enjoying Rolando Villazon especially when singing with the beautul Anna Netrebko. Be happy everybody in2011
