The Old Man Sleeps.

One of the first songs I wrote. It goes a bit shaky in parts, but I have a cold and a sore throat, and this was about my 15th take so this is going to have to do.


Why must we always cross the raod, when we see an old man begging for his soul?
Pleading with his eyes and his outstretced hand,
feeling so ashamed when he's knocked back again.

Chorus:
What have we come to?
When did our hearts get turned to stone?
Why don't we ever help out our own?

We've much more than we'll ever need,
purely driven by our own greed.
Wrapped up in our own worlds, not a thought to spare.
Taking things for granted like we just don't care.

Chorus.

So the old man watches life pass by,
all he owns is regret and a tear in his eye.
He lays his hat down on the ground, at the start of the day
but it doesn't even make a difference anyway.

Now the old man sleeps for one last night
his life was hard but he always tried to do right.
People just ignored him and walked straight on.
Don't you think it's sad that they won't notice he's gone?

so true. they wont think it is sad he is gone. all those politicians in their rich fancy warm homes. Theydont care. There are so many vietnam vets that are homeless. No one cares in this day and age, even citizens. kudos to you!
