The Film Versus Film crew tackles the question, "Who's the meanest film character you've ever rooted for?" Is it Gene Tierney in Leave Her to Heaven? Or Casey Affleck in The Killer Inside Me? Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity? Is it Darth Vader, Hannibal Lector, or George W. Bush in Oliver Stone's W.? Or perhaps it's Albert Brooks in Modern Romance or Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men? Dustin mentions Robert DeNiro as Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver and Rupert Pupkin in The King of Comedy, while David makes a case for Jerry Seinfeld in Comedian.
it probably doesnt count because its tv, but curb your enthusiasm and always sunny in philadelphia.

Although, I am crazy about Gene Tierney, I was appalled by what her character did out of insane jealously to Danny and her unborn child. I rooted for Travis Bickle. The film captured the atmosphere on the streets of NYC in the 70s to a T! I did not want him to shoot any politicians, but those scumbags at the end were another matter. And the ending was brilliant. Yes, a real taxi driver just may have driven off like he did with so many other passengers. So, says I, a cognoscente of that era.
