I agree with your point that men aspire to be gods. However, the serpent did not actually say they would be as gods, as if the period is after the word "god." His quote is ". . . and you will be like God (some say "gods" because of "elohim"), knowing good and evil. God actually affirms this to be the case, that is, with this special qualification, when he says in verse 22 ". . .Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil."

@Jere616 Genesis 3:1 "...And he (the serpent) said unto the woman, 'Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?'"

Note: the enemy questions God's word and authority.

3:4 "And the serpent said unto the woman, 'Ye shall not surely die'"

Note: the enemy lies

3:5 "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Note: the enemy puts it in the mind of Eve that she will be like a god.

"God told me to kill you, God told me to make you drink poison Kool-aid" sounds very much like: "God says to slaughter Cananite babies, do not leave a stone on a stone!" This is not the Loving God that created the universe. If man wants to create God, then who should be worshipping who? I have read the bible and the new testimant twice. Can't you see the difference between testements?
