No, ABC used both this John Williams theme and the earlier Olympic march which is actually called "Bugler's Dream" -- Leo Arnaud's composition. Originally, ABC played a recording with Arnaud conducting the orchestra. Then they combined it with Williams' music. I thought the "gallop" one was also written by Williams.

Aw crap this promo just messed me up. I always thought the Olympic theme John Williams composed was debuted when NBC started airing the games. ABC used that "other" theme (I can only describe it as more of a "gallop" theme) a lot, so I thought it was proprietary to each network. So much for that...
