@TheFrontrowkid That was also in the day when the audience, at whatever age, had sense enough to know that you didn't REALLY do things like this without being told. People could tell the difference between harmless fantasy without a lawyers disclaimer at the beginning of the show.

This is not a cannibal film, kiddies. It is an episode from the Republic serial, Jungle Girl, released in 1941. She is being not being cooked for dinner, but rather tortured because she wont' tell the villians what they want to know. This is what is known as a cliffhanger. You had to come back next week in order to find out what happened. Yes, it may have been politically incorrect to depict African natives this way but Republic was not trying to turn the kids into minature Jeffrey Dahmers.
