Every video says put your wieght on the front foot and it always seems like it is an uphill shot to the green which makes it hard to do.
I think it is way too easy to for the bogey golfer to stick the club in the ground behind the ball if he/she puts his weight on the front foot.
Go with plan B.

hey could you help me on a down hill shots
-
what if the grass on the side of the green is around 1-1/2 to 2 inches thick and the ball is sitting up on top, or fluffed up, still on an uphill lie. I always play it like a normal pitch shot with the ball in the back of my stance because i dont know what else to do.

Shawn can you recommend what club to use in this situation?
-
had an uphill chip shot the other week, hit the flag, the ball dropped next to the hole about 6 inches away

If you search it on youtube, many others have videos on the downhill chip.
I LOVE YOU SHAWN! The key is for the head to be behind the ball. This has worked for EVERY stroke today and i shot a 78 (A PERSONAL BEST). THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you post a video or explain how the downhill chip shot works, where to put the weight, where to position the ball, etc.? thanks

Hi Phillip;

Yes, very helpful. I especially like that you mention the downhill swing path and the left shoulder/armpit connection. One thing I feel slightly different for myself though: Rather than "toss + fall", I don't let it fall but rather use more of a "shoulder back + forth" rocking movement (as when putting). Using/Feeling my shoulder gives me more control than just letting it "fall".

Yes, very good, this is how you want to go about it and I am sure you do it without interrupting momentum as this is the key; as long as the pushing through with your right shoulder does not feel jerky...Nice exchange Philip! Shawn
