Rainwater harvesting is easiest done using a Rain Barrel to collect rain. This huge fella , all of 5000 litres , is a good option. Tucked in the corner of the house it picks up all the rain on the 200 square metre rooftop and sometimes overflows. A sump in the foreground picks up the remaining water. The rainwater is potable and really really good. A good water conservation device, incentivising rainwater harvesting is a challenge for the city of Bangalore.

  • yeah...agreed. The thing is to do it yourself and that's the cheapest it can get.

  • Where do you get such a large rain barrel, and what was its cost?

  • if systems like this didn't cost so much I think they would catch on a lot faster with a lot more people.
