Castrol Performance Analysis, using GPS tracking systems, reveals that a Ronaldo free-kick accelerates at 31.1m a second compared to the Apollo 11 rocket's 7.3m a second at blast-off.

Among other findings is that the Portuguese winger is leaner than a supermodel, with just 10 per cent of body fat, compared to the 13.8 per cent of an average catwalk queen. During a weight training session, he lifts 23,055kg - the equivalent of more than 16 Toyota Prius cars.

In one season, Ronaldo will run the equivalent distance from Madrid to London - an average of 10.5km a game.

He will also perform between 1,000-1,500 movement changes per game - more than the 936 bends a Formula One car twists through in the Monaco Grand Prix.

Oh, and the boffins have also calculated that he generates five times more power in his jump than a cheetah in full flight.
