Louie the Lightning Bug - Play It Safe Around Electricity

Louie the Lightning Bug showed up every Saturday morning in North Texas for much of the 1980s. Any couch potato kid from around here will remember him well.

I live in Ohio and I remember in Elementary school when "Louie" came to or school. He was the only mascot that we kids didn't beat up or throw trash at or make fun of. Man I used to love all his song. He broke out the harmonica man the bug had style. Get down Louie, get down!

okay ley me explain something calmly. YOU MUST PROVIDE THE REASON FOR THIS, if you dont tell kids they could die a horrible miserable death by playing near powerlines . .. . then all this song is going to do is produce an enigme, a great burning desire to understand hte power lines . . . . thus a want or maybe even a need to find out what secret is being kept from them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your not going to believe this, but I submitted the idea of a light bulb with wings to a hydro logo design contest when I was 6. They got my mom to sign a release, gave me a t-shirt (which I thought was a huge score), and then got a professional designer to finalize the concept. I guess that person was Mike Lester.....

The good ole days when kids actually played outdoors! Shows how we did not have the things that kids have these days. I guess you could say that we were bored and saw the very first tree by a powerline and climbed onto it!

We had a similiar commercial to this by Massachusetts Electric with a character named "ZAP!".... does anyone else remember that?
