Why Jennifer Lawrence took three days to accept the role of Katniss.

Hey there movie buffs, Tatiana Carrier here with Clevver Movies. Well, as the release date for The Hunger Games draws nearer, the stars are starting to open up about the filming process and their preparation for the roles. Jennifer Lawrence, who stars as Katniss Everdeen, was hesitant to accept the role because, as she tells The Hollywood Reporter, "the size of the decision was terrifying." Lucky for us, her mom convinced her to take the role, despite the high expectations set upon the films from the success of the novels.

Since the books are so popular with teens, like almost at a Twilight-level, the role of Katniss is highly anticipated. Lawrence wanted to those meet expectations and trained four hours a day to be able to do every stunt in the movie and get her body to where, as she says, 'an entire franchise is based on it." Luckily, though, she was still pretty bulked up from X-Men: First Class, so a lot of her training was simply heightening her existing muscles. She was even sent to the hospital after misstepping on a wall-run excercise and badly bruised herself, but luckily she wasn't badly injured.

Ultimately, Jennifer Lawrence is proving to be just as much of a fighter as the role she is fighting to portray. "I knew in my heart that I wanted it - it was about working out all the fears."
