Description: What you need to know to protect you and your family from the H1N1 Flu Virus.
Text: Hello, youre watching Your Health Matters from the Orange County Health Department. This is a short informative video on the health topic of swine flu.
We know that many of you have concerns and questions associated with the announcement regarding swine flu and we are here to provide accurate information that you can use to protect yourself, your family, and others.
Swine flu is a respiratory disease caused by type A influenza virus that can lead to outbreaks of influenza. Swine flu occurs in pigs and can be directly transmitted from pigs to humans. As we are seeing, humans can pass the swine flu virus to other humans. We believe it is spread among people in the same way as seasonal flu, through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
Prevention is the key to stopping the spread of swine flu. As with any infectious illness, there are simple steps that you can take to reduce your risk of becoming infected. These include:
Washing your hands. Frequent hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to keep from getting sick. Proper hand washing techniques include: wet your hands, apply soap, scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds, rinse, and dry with a paper towel. Turn off the faucet and open the door using a paper towel.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you dont have a tissue, cough and sneeze into your elbow to keep germs off of your hands. Stay home when you are sick. Do not go to work, school, or travel until you feel better. Dont share your germs.
A person can become infected with the swine flu by touching something that has been contaminated with the flu virus and then touching their mouth or nose before washing their hands. Many people are wondering if you can get swine flu from eating or preparing pork. The answer is no. The swine flu virus is not spread by food. Properly handled and cooked pork products are safe to eat.
The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to those of the seasonal flu and include: cough, fever greater than 100 degrees, sore throat, chills, body aches, and stuffy nose. In some cases, the swine flu can cause diarrhea and vomiting.
If you are having these symptoms, please contact your physician, follow their directions, and avoid close contact with others. If you have flu-like symptoms, wearing a mask that covers your mouth and nose may protect others from becoming infected. If you become ill and experience any of the following warning signs, go to the emergency room. In children: be aware of bluish skin color, not drinking enough liquids, fever with a rash, being so irritable that the child does not want to be held. Another warning sign is if the child starts to feel better but the symptoms return with a fever and a cough that is more severe. In adults, warning signs that need urgent medical attention include: difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen, sudden dizziness, severe or persistent vomiting, and confusion.
There are medicines to treat swine flu. These medicines can make your illness milder and make you feel better faster.

She is talking about a common cold...since when did it become Flu? You can only get flu when your immune system is really dangerously low. Do not take Tamiflu or the Vaccine...they will do nothing your body can easily combat the virus. The so-called cures contain dangerous mutagens that will affect your health. Also, for good measure... the liquid Tamiflu contains 7 E nos.including sacharin the capsules 5!
