Follow this advice and raising children will be much more rewarding.

To complete this How-To you will need:

Time
Patience
Disciplinary rules
Positive reinforcement
A Healthy diet
Exercise
A healthy sleep regimen

Step 1: Spend time with your child

Spend time with your child. Get involved with every aspect of their lives: school, sports, friends, etc.

Step 2: Agree on rules

Discuss and agree on rules and disciplinary actions with anyone helping you raise your child. Disciplinary contradictions can only confuse your child.

Step 3: Stay calm

Create an environment full of positive reinforcement. Avoid hostile behavior at all costs, and calmly discuss troubling situations

Step 4: Take charge

Remind your child that you are the parent and they are the child.

Tip: Do not play the role of your child's friend. You are the parent and should demonstrate your authority.

Step 5: Create consequences

Teach your child the meaning of good behavior. Create consequences for bad as well as good behavior.

Step 6: Don't give in

Don't give in to your child's wishes once you have expressed your stand.

Step 7: Take care of yourself

Eat right, exercise, and get enough sleep to deal with the heavy load of everyday parenting.

  • That whole thing about "Be the parent not a friend" or whatever, I disagree. If you act more like a friend to them, won't they probably be more likely to listen to you? If you only act like "I'm older than you and I have more authority", they'll probably think you are an ass and rebel.

  • who would want to have kids with her

  • Do they even know what the word "parent" means, I mean when they said the "I'M THE PARENT AND UR THE CHILD!" part I was like NO SHIT SHERLOCK!

  • @fugeepop and yet you're calling her a bitch in a public space

  • Depending on personalitie temper and mood every child is different what one way would work on a child wont work on another. There aint one method that well work for all kids. Creativity is needed.

  • @bballfool24 That's exactly how I got raised, and I don't hate my parents.

  • @Rasmus0909 That doesn't have anything to do with what I said in the first place. I said 7 months ago, that the reason why many american teenagers are hating their parents is because of that quote. Our parenting culture is one that is governed by authority. When you are at for example wal mart with your child, and your child starts acting up, what is the first thing you tell them? "HEY,STOP BEING A BRAT, AND START BEHAVING BECAUSE I SAID SO." Everywhere else in the world has a different approach

  • @bballfool24 Parents who don't cooperate properly (dad says no, mom says yes) make problems. Some parents decide to just deny their child something ordinary, because they think that'll fix the problem, however, there are parents who tell their child no to do X or the child cannot have X, because X is somehow bad for the child. X being a random thing.

    That's just from my experience.

  • @Rasmus0909 What do you mean by that?

  • if a child talks back to you you should smack the shyt out of them and lock them up in a basement until they apoligize. if that dont work take them to the back yard and tie the dog to a tree upside down by its tail and urinate on it and decapitate it with a chainsaw and let it be an example of what happens when they have something to say out of term. but only verbally demonstrate this cause if you do them like you just did your dog that's murder and could carry a life sentence. so love them...
